What is the meaning of "Median" or "Percentil"?

A median solution time (or the 50^th percentil) time of e.g. 10 minutes indicates that

• 50% of all solved Sudokus have been solved in less than or equal to 10 minutes
• or in other words, 50% of all solved Sudokus have been solved in a time longer than 10 minutes

Now you understand the meaning of the 30^th percentil: A solution time of e.g. 4.5 minutes for the 30^th percentile indicates that

• 30% of all solved Sudokus have been solved in less than or equal to 4.5 minutes
• or in other words, 70% of all solved Sudokus have been solved in a time longer than 4.5 minutes

With this understanding you can compare your results with the overall performance - but be careful with a hasty conclusion.
Prerequisite for a comparision is the need for a good statistical basis and that is the availability of a huge amount of Sudokus solved by many different players !
That is not yet achieved at the time being (January 2012).
